About Christoph@Herrmann Funeral Photography

When my father died unexpectedly over 20 years ago, his funeral was filled with people from every part of his life. His years as a pastor had touched countless families.

Nobody photographed any of it.

The chapel. The flowers. The people who shared stories about him. The embraces. After 20 years, I've lost most of it.

Now I'm a father myself, and I want to show my kids who their grandfather was, not just tell them. I wish I had a memorial album we could look through together. I wish I had photos of the people who loved him, of how they remembered him, and of the way the chapel looked.

But I don't.

That's why I do this work. So other families don't lose what I lost.

I wrote more about this experience and how it shaped Herrmann Funeral Photography in What I Wish I'd Known When My Father Died.

my MISSION

I document funerals with the care, discretion, and respect I would want for my own family.

Every image I create is meant to hold onto something you'll want later: the people, the details, the moments, the evidence that your loved one's life mattered.

My goal is simple: years from now, YOU WON’T HAVE TO SAY, “I wish we had photos.”
